Membership is open to the public and the garden is open to members during daylight hours. Get to know our growing community, learn about organic food growing or simply come to visit and get some fresh air!

We are looking for enthusiastic, community-minded people with a broad range of experiences and backgrounds who can donate 1–2 hours of time per week. There is always something to do, no matter your previous gardening experience, age or skills.

Members can:

  • Join in all the garden activities
  • Share in the produce grown in the community garden areas
  • Attend workshops and educational sessions held in the garden for free
  • Participate in the decision making processes

Visitors are welcome at our regular working bees on Sunday mornings. Sundays are a great time to visit if you’d like to look around or find out more. You can also send an email to verastreetcg@gmail.com with your questions or to request a membership form.

Membership is $30 per year for adults (or $18 concession). Children can join for free if associated with an adult or concession membership. Our financial year starts 1 April and pro-rata membership fees are available if you join in a different month.

Please note: Vera Street Community Garden is on the school grounds of the Queensland Academy for Science, Mathematics and Technology. Adult members of VSCG are required to hold a Blue Card or Exemption Card (Working with Children card) for working in a space where children may be present and involved in activities. You can apply online or by completing a paper form. As a volunteer, this application is free. A member of the VSCG committee will help you with your application as required.
